Blessed by an Elephant

I saw an incredibly moving video tonight of an elephant who was reunited with other elephants at a sanctuary after more than two decades of living chained in isolation and clearly mistreated. One of the elephants already living in the sanctuary had been in the same circus with her nearly 25 years ago, and they recognized each other and bonded immediately. So powerful. So touching.

How is it that we humans would even consider treating these gentle and magnificent animals with such cruelty? How does that even occur to us?


What wonderful ministry they do at elephant sanctuaries. I saw another documentary about a different elephant sanctuary once and was blown away by the work that is done there with all the beautiful animals.


How sad that these amazing places so often remain outside our awareness, while we focus our attention on far less noble pursuits.
